2011 Devils Compete at Cooperstown

The 2011 NH Diamond Devils did a great job competing at this years Tournament of Champions where 102 teams from around the US and Canada competed for the National Championship.  The Devils won their first playoff game against the Central New York All Stars behind the pitching of Carter Cormier.  Cormier pitched a complete game in leading the Devils to the 7 to 2 Win.  The Devils lost in the next round to the Upper Merion Monarchs in a close game highlighted by the pitching of Owen Vlahos.  Vlahos pitched well in defeat as he constantly kept the Monarchs off balance by changing speeds and varying his pick off attempts.  Other highlights of the tournament were Grant Coy pitching very well against the Bristol County Eagles, the hitting of Cole Nickerson and Nick Quadros, the hitting and fielding of Jack Kearns, Kyle Szewczyk pitching well against the Orange Crush and Joe Bernard getting a haircut by the owner of the Park, Coach Presutti!  Other contributors were Nick Dutton who caught well behind the plate the whole week, Tommy Ethier whose leadership and defense made the Devils go, Willie Howell who hit a home run in the King of swat competition, Jack Macleod who played good defense at 1st base and in the outfield, John Morin whose versatility defensively helped make the coaches job easy and Owen Shea who had a nice tourney despite a shoulder injury!
